Budget friendly & easy to recreate hacks on making ordinary bedrooms look extraordinary.

Ever wondered how the bedrooms of designers on Instagram look oh so luxurious, and it feels like it’s impossible to replicate that? They look luxurious yet simple, calming, and perfectly put together. The secret is, you don’t need a professional designer or a huge budget to achieve that same look. With just a few clever tricks, you can transform your own bedroom into a chic and cozy retreat. Ready to feel so boujee? Here are 3 easy hacks to elevate your bedding and make your space feel like a high-end haven.

The Color Palette Matters

One of the first things you’ll notice about luxury hotel beds and designer Instagram bedrooms is their calming, cohesive color palettes. Color is totally a personal choice — while shades like soft whites, gentle grays, serene blues, or warm beiges are popular choices, the key is to choose colors that you personally find calming. If red is a calming color for you, then go for it! However, avoid going monotone — instead, incorporate at least 2 colors, ideally 3.

✅ Start with a base color: Pick a neutral base color for your sheets and duvet cover. Crisp white, soft grey, or light beige are great choices.

✅ Add complementary shades: Layer in complementary colors with your pillowcases and throw blankets. For example, pair a white duvet with soft grey or pale blue pillowcases.

✅ Incorporate at least two colors: To reiterate, adding at least two, ideally three complementary colors will add depth and interest to your bedding ensemble.

In this bed below, notice how the base color is a crisp white duvet. Complementary shades are added with soft green and taupe pillows, along with a cozy brown throw blanket. This combination creates a serene and inviting look that gives you that designer feel!

Mix Textures with Pillows, Duvets, and Blankets

Adding a variety of textures to your bedding can elevate the look and feel of your bed, giving it that luxurious hotel vibe. Mixing different materials adds depth and interest, making your bed look more inviting and cozy. Incorporate textures through pillows, duvets, and blankets to achieve this effect.

✅ Choose different materials: Combine materials like cotton, linen, velvet, and knit. For example, if your bedding is made of smooth cotton, add velvet cushions or a chunky knit blanket for contrast.

✅ Layering: Drape a throw blanket at the foot of the bed or casually across the middle. This not only adds texture but also gives your bed a styled, yet effortless look.

Add More Than Two Pillows, But Don’t Go Crazy

Pillows play a crucial role in achieving that plush, luxurious look you see in designer bedrooms and luxury hotels. Adding more than two pillows can make your bed look fuller and more inviting, but it’s important to strike the right balance to avoid it looking cluttered.

✅ Mix and match sizes and textures: Use a combination of standard, king, and euro pillows to create depth. Start with larger pillows at the back and layer smaller ones in front. Avoid busy patterns and opt for solid colors or subtle textures to maintain a sophisticated look.

✅ Keep it practical: While a few extra pillows can enhance the look, please don’t go crazy with 15 pillows! Too many will make your bed impractical and cluttered

Generally about a max of 5–6 pillows like the arrangement below will work great!
